Jamaica's Elaine Thompson becomes the fastest woman in the world as she beats defending champion and compatriot Shelley-Ann Fraser-Pryce to clinch gold in the 100m women's final at the Olympic Games.



Elaine Thompson (born 28 June 1992) is a Jamaican sprinter. She won the silver medal in the 200 meters at the 2015 World Championships and is the 5th fastest woman ever in this event and tied 4th ever in the 100 metres. Most recently, she won the 100m Gold medal in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, with a time of 10.71s.
